About Me
Having believed that I had to pursue a 'fulfilling' occupation growing up, I pushed away my love for the arts and classified it as a regular hobby.
I cast aside that mindset at the age of 16, and withdrew from an IT diploma at 17. Now, I rekindle that spark and aim to work in a field where I can both shine and show passion for.
My experiences
Shakespeare in the Park - Macbeth
Singapore Repertory Theatre
In June 2025, I volunteered as part of the Front of House team for Shakespeare: Macbeth at the Singapore Repertory Theatre. My role involved guiding audience flow before and after the performance, ensuring everything moved smoothly in a busy and time-sensitive environment.
I worked closely with the theatre team to anticipate audience needs, resolve queries quickly, and contribute to a seamless and enjoyable theatre-going experience. A key responsibility was performing bag checks for restricted items, such as alcohol, where I balanced compliance with venue policies while maintaining a respectful and welcoming demeanor.
This experience gave me a deeper understanding of theatre operations and the importance of creating a professional yet warm atmosphere for audiences. Being my first 'real world' experience, it was truly eye opening.
Nila's Shimmering Shores
Children's Musuem
In August 2025, I volunteered as part of the Front-of-House crew for Nila’s Shimmering Shore at the Children’s Museum, supporting a two-day event that welcomed over 300 children and families. Before doors opened, I assisted in setting up the venue by installing cardboard wave decorations along the staircases, turning on fairy light installations with my teammates, and preparing the FOH activity table.
Throughout the waiting period before the 8pm show, I welcomed families warmly, introduced the two hands-on activities, and guided children through either decorating paper birds for the communal installation or creating sand shakers to be used interactively during the performance. I moved between stations to check on families, balance incoming visitors, and ensure every child felt supported and engaged.
With the sand shaker activity, I offered patient, step-by-step guidance while maintaining a professional yet child-friendly presence. Before the play began, I encouraged the children to enjoy the show; afterward, I distributed glowsticks, thanked families for attending, and directed them to nearby installations to boost visitor flow.
At the end of each night, I assisted with teardown and equipment packing. My supervisor commended my strong customer service skills and entrusted me with explaining the activity workflow to newer volunteers. This experience strengthened my communication, teamwork, and adaptability. It showed me how FOH roles directly shape audience experience and affirmed my ability to guide others while staying patient, clear, and child-friendly in fast-paced environments.
Senior Part-time Barista
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
Since November 2023, I have been working as a barista at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Changi Airport’s Terminal 4, one of the busiest and most dynamic places to serve in. The constant flow of travelers creates a fast-paced environment where timing, attentiveness, and precision matter a lot. I contribute to this workflow by listening closely to my colleagues while managing my own responsibilities, ensuring service stays smooth even during peak hours.
The diversity of customers has also strengthened my communication skills, as I often navigate language barriers with patience and courtesy—occasionally speaking simple Mandarin to assist guests who cannot communicate in English. Many customers have recognized me for the consistency of my coffee and the warmth of my service, and I enjoy connecting with people from all over the world through these small interactions.
For me, being a barista is also an outlet for creativity. Latte art has become a way to bring a personal and artistic touch into everyday work, turning something as simple as coffee into a small piece of expression. As an artist, I like finding ways to weave creativity into whatever I do, and making coffee has become another canvas where I can share that with others. I also take pride in being dependable. I often stay beyond my scheduled hours to finish tasks and keep the workspace up to standard, because I value leaving both my team and our customers with a sense of trust and satisfaction. Working in such a lively environment has taught me not only how to stay adaptable and work as part of a team, but also how art, care, and professionalism can come together in everyday life.
